What's Happening?
The Punjab government is planning to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its agricultural practices to boost farm productivity, sustainability, and farmers' income. This initiative is supported
by the Centre of Excellence at IIT Ropar. Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian chaired a meeting to review progress and develop a roadmap for AI-based solutions in agriculture. The government aims to support pilot projects and expand successful AI initiatives across the state. Plans include installing automatic weather stations, involving farmers in data collection, and expanding AI-based livestock productivity solutions.
