What's Happening?
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan presided over the High Military Council (YAŞ) meeting at the Presidential Complex, where decisions regarding the promotion and retirement of military personnel were finalized. The council approved the promotion of 25 generals
and admirals to higher ranks and extended the service of 24 generals and 530 colonels. Additionally, 61 generals and admirals were retired due to lack of positions, and two were retired due to age. These decisions, effective from August 30, 2026, reflect the ongoing restructuring and modernization efforts within the Turkish Armed Forces.
