Smaller farms, particularly in the South and Northeast, reported lower pre-booking rates and greater exposure to price volatility. Rising input costs, exacerbated by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, have led to increased fertilizer and fuel prices, straining farmers' financial health. The survey found that 78% of Southern farmers and 69% of Northeastern farmers were unable to afford all necessary fertilizer inputs, compared to 48% in the Midwest.
