What's Happening?
Nexus Core Systems has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Moroccan government agencies to invest MAD12 billion (approximately $1.29 billion) in constructing an AI factory in Morocco. The agreement was finalized during the GITEX Africa 2026
event in Marrakesh, involving Morocco's Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, the Ministry of Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies, and the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development. The project aims to develop a high-performance computing data center, a center of excellence for high-value services and skills development, and an innovation hub to enhance the AI digital ecosystem. The factory will be built in two phases, with the first phase located in Nouaceur and the second in Northern Morocco, both powered entirely by renewable energy through a partnership with TAQA Morocco.
