What's Happening?
The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) is actively engaging students in its Cyber Range program as part of San Antonio's $200 million Ready to Work initiative. This program aims to equip participants with the necessary skills to secure higher-paying
jobs, particularly in the IT and cybersecurity sectors. Despite the program's efforts, only 316 out of 741 individuals who completed IT or cybersecurity training have secured jobs in the industry. The Cyber Range provides hands-on experience by simulating real-time cyber attacks, allowing trainees to practice detecting and responding to threats. This initiative is a collaboration between UTSA and Greater:SATX, the city's economic development office, to better prepare participants for the job market.
