What's Happening?
NBC 4 New York, Telemundo 47, and Comcast NBCUniversal have announced the return of the NBCUniversal Local Impact Grants for 2026. This initiative will provide $227,272 in unrestricted funds to eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations based in the Tri-State
Area. The grants aim to support programs in youth education and empowerment, next-generation storytellers, and community engagement. Nonprofits can apply for these grants from March 24 to April 24, 2026. The program, now in its ninth year, has previously awarded $21 million to 615 organizations. This year, a total of $2.5 million will be distributed across 11 U.S. markets served by NBC and Telemundo stations.
Why It's Important?
The NBCUniversal Local Impact Grants play a crucial role in supporting community-based initiatives that address local issues. By providing financial resources to nonprofits, the program helps expand outreach and impact in areas such as education, arts, and community engagement. This funding is particularly significant for smaller organizations with annual expenses between $100,000 and $1,000,000, as it enables them to enhance their programs and services. The grants also foster the development of future leaders and storytellers, contributing to a more informed and engaged society.
What's Next?
Eligible nonprofits are encouraged to apply for the grants by April 24, 2026. An informational session is scheduled for April 7, where interested organizations can learn more about the application process and eligibility criteria. The grant winners will be announced later in the year, providing them with the resources needed to implement and expand their programs. As the application period progresses, nonprofits will likely prepare proposals that align with the grant categories, aiming to secure funding for their initiatives.
