UK-based startup Zero Emissions Aerospace (ZeAero%) has announced plans to retrofit the Cessna Caravan with a liquid hydrogen fuel cell propulsion system. This initiative is part of a broader effort to develop a zero-emission 19-seat regional aircraft.
ZeAero% is working on a 200-kW integrated propulsion system demonstrator, with ground testing scheduled for next year. The company aims to achieve supplemental type certification for the Caravan by 2030-31. The modified aircraft, named ZERA-Lite, is expected to have a range of 400 nautical miles while maintaining its nine-passenger capacity.
