What's Happening?
Sutter Health has completed the first phase of its adaptive-reuse project in Santa Clara, California, transforming former office buildings into a comprehensive medical facility. The new Sutter Health Santa Clara East
Campus is part of a larger development that includes six buildings and spans 1 million square feet. Designed by HGA, the East Campus offers primary care, specialty services, an ambulatory surgery center, imaging, a regional lab, and urgent care. The project aims to provide state-of-the-art medical services while utilizing existing structures, with the West Campus scheduled to open in 2027.
Why It's Important?
The completion of the first phase of Sutter Health's adaptive-reuse project represents a significant advancement in healthcare infrastructure, demonstrating innovative approaches to facility design and utilization. By repurposing existing office buildings, Sutter Health is able to expand its healthcare services without the need for new construction, potentially reducing costs and environmental impact. This project may serve as a model for other healthcare providers looking to optimize resources and improve patient care through adaptive reuse strategies.
