Archaeologists in Pompeii have unveiled a partially reconstructed frescoed ceiling vault of a banquet hall, featuring detailed images of Greek mythology. The reconstruction was presented at the end of an international workshop on new discoveries in Pompeii,
a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The ceiling, believed to be from a banquet hall on the upper floor of a house with an adjoining bakery, was reconstructed using an innovative method. The main theme of the frescoes is the union of Dionysus and Ariadne, a well-known Greek myth. The archaeological park plans to add more fragments as they are discovered and restored.
