What's Happening?
NASA's Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is undergoing final preparations at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, with its solar panels completing prelaunch cleaning and inspections. The Solar Array Sun Shield, consisting of six panels, is designed to
power the telescope as it orbits at the Sun-Earth Lagrange point (L2). The panels will provide 4,100 watts of power, enabling the telescope to conduct surveys of planets outside our solar system and study cosmic phenomena. The Roman Telescope is set to launch on a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket no earlier than August 30, 2026.
