What's Happening?
Safal Partners has initiated a national project aimed at integrating Registered Apprenticeship into state and local workforce systems, supported by a $2.1 million grant from Ascendium Education Group. This two-year initiative will provide technical assistance,
coaching, and policy development to six selected state cohorts. The project seeks to expand apprenticeship access for low-income learners, rural residents, and individuals facing employment barriers. The initiative will culminate in a national Peer Learning Summit and a customizable playbook for workforce systems to scale effective integration strategies.
Why It's Important?
This initiative is significant as it addresses the underutilization of Registered Apprenticeship programs within the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) service delivery. By enhancing the capacity of local workforce boards to integrate apprenticeship programs, the initiative aims to create high-quality career pathways for marginalized groups. This could lead to improved employment outcomes and economic mobility for participants, while also addressing workforce shortages in various industries.
What's Next?
The project will involve selecting participating states in collaboration with Ascendium Education Group. Safal Partners will then provide these states with targeted support to develop and implement sustainable apprenticeship-focused service delivery. The outcomes and lessons learned from this initiative will be shared with the broader field to encourage widespread adoption of effective strategies.
