What's Happening?
Kerus Global Education, an international nonprofit organization, recently celebrated its 25th anniversary with a fundraiser brunch at the Lighthouse Café in Newport Beach. The event highlighted the organization's
efforts in South Africa, particularly through the Kerus Care Center in Soshanguve. Founded by Jennie Cerullo and Marcia Ball, Kerus Global focuses on serving severely impacted populations, preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS, and caring for abused and exploited children. The fundraiser was attended by various supporters, including Cate Heck, who has volunteered at the Kerus Center in South Africa. The center provides meals, academic support, trauma-informed counseling, and spiritual encouragement to over 80 children daily. Kerus Global has trained over 60,000 leaders and caregivers worldwide, reaching 60 million people in more than 60 countries.
Why It's Important?
The work of Kerus Global is significant as it addresses critical issues such as HIV/AIDS prevention and child exploitation in Africa. By providing essential services and support to vulnerable children, the organization helps mitigate the effects of these crises. The fundraiser not only raises awareness but also generates financial support necessary for the continuation of these programs. The involvement of community members and philanthropists underscores the importance of global cooperation in tackling humanitarian challenges. The success of Kerus Global's initiatives demonstrates the impact that dedicated organizations can have in improving lives and fostering sustainable change.
