A Brazilian researcher, Ivan Bergier, has developed a new framework called AgriTrust to address the challenges of secure agricultural data sharing. The framework combines data governance, semantic technology,
and federated digital infrastructure to promote trusted data exchange across agri-food systems. AgriTrust aims to balance data openness with sovereignty and accountability, allowing farmers, cooperatives, and regulators to share verifiable data while ensuring ownership and privacy. The framework introduces a federated semantic governance model, enabling multiple independent actors to participate in a shared data ecosystem under common governance rules. It features Core Ontology, a semantic model that defines digital assets and contracts, ensuring consistent interpretation and verification of agricultural data.
