A conference titled 'Future of Reading' was held in Seoul, South Korea, to discuss how artificial intelligence is transforming the way individuals seek information and the evolving role of books. The event marked the 10th anniversary of the digital service
Millie’s Library. Chung Jae-wook, CEO of Millie’s Library, stated that while the format of reading will change, the fundamental practice of reading will endure. He suggested that AI and wearable technologies could foster a more social and interactive reading experience, helping readers identify preferences and build connections across diverse demographics and linguistic backgrounds. Millie’s Library, founded in 2016, provides access to e-books and other content, boasting over 10 million subscribers who have collectively spent more than 19.87 billion minutes reading, with an average user consuming 6.8 books monthly. Anna Rosling, co-founder of the Gapminder Foundation, highlighted that AI chatbots demonstrate high accuracy in answering global development questions, outperforming human respondents, yet emphasized the human need to analyze and make sense of information.
