What's Happening?
Calgary Economic Development has introduced TalentED Greater Calgary, a work-based learning initiative aimed at connecting employers with job-ready youth aged 18-24. With a $3 million investment from the
Government of Alberta, the program seeks to create 2,000 industry placements by 2027. It builds on the success of a pilot project, TalentED YYC, which generated significant economic impact through work-integrated learning opportunities. The initiative is designed to help small and medium-sized businesses and nonprofits by providing clearly scoped work-based learning opportunities, thereby reducing time, cost, and capacity barriers. The program also includes AI training sessions to help employers integrate AI into their processes and enable youth to develop relevant digital skills.
