Alexander Rivera-Russo, 24, has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred on University Boulevard in Jacksonville on January 2. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) reported that Rivera-Russo was driving at a high rate
of speed when he rear-ended a vehicle driven by Savana Pendarvis, 27. The impact caused Pendarvis’ vehicle to hit a utility pole and catch fire. Pendarvis succumbed to her injuries, and occupants in another vehicle were also injured. Detectives with the Traffic Homicide Unit identified Rivera-Russo as the suspect shortly after the crash, but he fled the scene and remained at large. He was apprehended in the Oakleaf area of Clay County with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Task Force and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
