What's Happening?
Boone Jenner, captain of the Columbus Blue Jackets, has introduced a new charitable initiative called Boone's Buddies. This program, in collaboration with the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation, aims to
support children and families in central Ohio facing medical challenges. Partnering with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio, the initiative will host families at 20 Blue Jackets home games throughout the season. These families, who are staying at the Ronald McDonald House while receiving care at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, will enjoy a night of entertainment and connection. After each game, Jenner or a teammate will meet with the families to share experiences and provide a memorable evening.
Why It's Important?
Boone's Buddies highlights the role of sports figures in community engagement and philanthropy. By providing these families with a night of respite and joy, the initiative underscores the importance of community support for those facing medical hardships. This program not only enhances the lives of the families involved but also strengthens the relationship between the Columbus Blue Jackets and the local community. It sets a precedent for other sports teams and athletes to engage in similar charitable activities, potentially leading to broader societal benefits.
