What's Happening?
The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has awarded Saab a SEK60 million contract to develop and demonstrate a large unmanned underwater vehicle (LUUV). The LUUV will feature Saab's Autonomous Ocean Core system, designed for integration with ships and other craft. The vehicle is intended to operate as a sensor platform, capable of independently detecting and responding to threats. It will assist in protecting critical underwater infrastructure and conducting seabed surveillance in the Baltic Sea. Initial sea trials are planned for the third quarter of 2026.
