What's Happening?
The United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is offering a Communications and Events Internship. This internship is part of UNEP's efforts to promote sustainable finance and align the financial industry with the Paris Agreement
and Sustainable Development Goals. The intern will assist the Communications and Events teams in writing, editing, and designing communication content, managing the UNEP FI website, and supporting social media outreach. The role also involves coordinating events, particularly the UNEP FI Regional Roundtables 2027, and tracking media coverage of UNEP FI and its initiatives.
Why It's Important?
This internship provides an opportunity for individuals to contribute to UNEP's mission of promoting sustainable finance. By supporting communications and events, the intern will help raise awareness and encourage the adoption of sustainable finance practices among financial institutions. This role is crucial for advancing UNEP FI's strategic partnership with over 500 banks, insurers, and investors, which aims to set global standards and grow a network of leading financial institutions committed to sustainability. The internship also offers valuable experience in communications, event management, and sustainable finance, which are essential skills for future careers in the environmental and financial sectors.
What's Next?
The internship is expected to last six months and can be undertaken remotely or in Geneva, Switzerland. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations, and costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or their sponsoring institutions. Successful candidates will gain hands-on experience in communications and event management, contributing to UNEP FI's mission of promoting sustainable finance. This experience will be valuable for individuals seeking to build a career in the environmental or financial sectors.
