Governor Andy Beshear of Kentucky congratulated 1,020 high school seniors from 114 counties following the completion of the 44th annual Kentucky Governor's Scholars Program. This competitive five-week residential summer program was hosted across three
campuses: Centre College, Morehead State University, and Murray State University. Established in 1983, the program aims to encourage high-achieving students to pursue higher education within Kentucky. Governor Beshear, a 1995 graduate of the program himself, emphasized the importance of the program in building a network of mentors and friends. Participants engaged in coursework across 25 subject areas, including forensic science, engineering, and healthcare, with a new addition of computer science and information technology. Admission to the program is highly competitive, with selections based on academic performance, test scores, recommendations, extracurricular activities, and essays.
