What's Happening?
A tech enthusiast has attempted to convert three fanless mini PCs, originally used for displaying Subway sandwich menus, into gaming rigs. These PCs, equipped with Intel Core i3 processors, were found to be inadequate for modern AAA gaming, achieving
only 15 fps in GTA V and 25 fps in Minecraft. Despite doubling the RAM, the systems struggled with performance due to their outdated hardware specifications. The project highlights the challenges of repurposing older technology for demanding applications.
Why It's Important?
This experiment underscores the limitations of older hardware in the face of modern gaming demands, illustrating the rapid pace of technological advancement. It serves as a reminder of the importance of hardware specifications in gaming performance and the potential for creative repurposing of obsolete technology. The project also highlights the environmental aspect of reusing technology, potentially reducing electronic waste by finding new uses for old devices.
