Brendan Francis McNeill, a prominent figure in Chicago's Irish pub scene, passed away peacefully at his home in Chicago on December 22, 2025, at the age of 84. Originally from Dublin, Ireland, McNeill emigrated to North America in 1961 and eventually
settled in Chicago in 1979. He was well-known for establishing several popular Irish pubs in the city, including the Emerald Isle pub in Edison Park and D4 Irish Pub and Cafe in Streeterville. McNeill's career in the hospitality industry began in London and continued in Canada before he moved to the United States. He is survived by his partner Deborah Zalesiak, four children, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. A funeral mass will be held on December 27, 2025, in Park Ridge, Illinois.
