What's Happening?
HarperCollins has commenced construction on a new 1.6 million-square-foot supply chain logistics facility in Brownsburg, Indiana. The facility, expected to open in 2028, will significantly enhance HarperCollins'
distribution capabilities, allowing it to ship over 300 million books annually to more than 100 countries. The project is anticipated to create over 400 logistics jobs.
Why It's Important?
This development marks a significant shift for HarperCollins, which has outsourced its logistics since 2010. By investing in its own distribution infrastructure, HarperCollins aims to improve efficiency and control over its supply chain. The facility's capacity to handle a vast volume of shipments could strengthen HarperCollins' competitive position in the global publishing market.
