Spanish defense firm Indra has signed an agreement to become the lead integrator for Spain's purchase of amphibious vehicles used by the U.S. Marine Corps. The vehicles, known in the U.S. as the Amphibious Combat Vehicle, will be integrated with systems
requested by the Spanish Ministry of Defense. Indra's deal with Italy's IDV, the design authority and supplier of core components, involves the integration of systems on 34 vehicles. The vehicles, dubbed the Marine Infantry Amphibious Combat Vehicle (VACIM) in Spain, will include variants for troop transport, command and control, recovery, and ambulance.
