ManTech is actively seeking a Facility Security Officer (FSO) for an onsite position at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. This role is critical for managing multidisciplinary security operations across Collateral, Special Access Programs (SAP), and Sensitive
Compartmented Information (SCI) environments. The FSO will serve as the primary liaison with government oversight agencies, ensuring compliance, defense, and operational resilience of federal programs. Key responsibilities include directing daily physical security operations, maintaining facility accreditations, enforcing NISP/NISPOM and government regulations, and administering personnel security records using systems like DISS and Scattered Castles. The position also involves supporting internal security investigations, documenting incidents, establishing corrective actions, and overseeing COMSEC and IT support under JSIG standard requirements. Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree, at least four years of direct FSO/CPSO experience within a DoD/SAP environment, and a current/active Top Secret clearance.
Why It's Important?
This recruitment highlights the ongoing demand for highly specialized security professionals within the U.S. defense sector, particularly in safeguarding sensitive national security assets. The role of an FSO is crucial for maintaining the integrity of classified information and programs, directly impacting national defense capabilities and intelligence operations. The emphasis on compliance with NISP/NISPOM and government regulations underscores the stringent security standards required for federal contractors. The need for expertise in managing various security environments (Collateral, SAP, SCI) reflects the complex and multi-layered nature of modern national security. The position's focus on incident management and investigations is vital for proactive threat mitigation and ensuring the continuous protection of critical information, thereby preventing potential breaches that could compromise national security.
What's Next?
ManTech will proceed with the hiring process to fill this critical FSO position, which will involve evaluating candidates based on their experience, qualifications, and security clearances. Once hired, the new FSO will immediately assume responsibilities for managing security operations at Eglin AFB, ensuring adherence to all relevant security protocols and regulations. This will include conducting security vulnerability assessments, delivering staff briefings, and maintaining liaison with government oversight agencies. The continuous staffing of such roles is essential for the uninterrupted protection of national security assets and the operational effectiveness of federal programs. The successful integration of this FSO will contribute to ManTech's ability to meet its contractual obligations and maintain its standing as a key defense contractor.
Beyond the Headlines
The demand for FSOs like the one ManTech is seeking reflects a broader trend in the U.S. defense industry: the increasing complexity and criticality of cybersecurity and physical security in an era of evolving threats. The requirement for specialized knowledge in areas such as SAP and SCI environments, alongside proficiency in systems like DISS and Scattered Castles, indicates a sophisticated approach to protecting classified information. This role also touches upon the ethical responsibility of safeguarding national secrets and the legal implications of non-compliance with stringent government regulations. The continuous need for such highly cleared and experienced personnel underscores the significant investment the U.S. government and its contractors make in maintaining a robust security posture against both state-sponsored and non-state actors, highlighting the constant vigilance required to protect sensitive information and infrastructure.
