What's Happening?
The U.S. Space Force has initiated a $981 million contract pool to enhance its training capabilities through the National Space Test and Training Complex Innovative Technology & Engineering — Space Test and Range (NITE-STAR) Capability Development. This
initiative, managed by Space Systems Command's System Delta 81, aims to develop advanced training tools to prepare Guardians for engagements against peer adversaries. The contract, which spans a five-year base period with a one-year option, involves 15 companies, including Amentum Technology, BAE Systems, Boeing, CACI, Firefly Aerospace, L3Harris Technologies, Lockheed Martin Space, Northrop Grumman, Pacific Crest Alliance, Parsons Government Services, Redwire, Rocket Lab, Sierra Space, Viasat, and York Space Systems. The effort is part of a broader Space Force initiative to create an Operational Test and Tracking Infrastructure (OTTI) to address challenges in training facilities and capabilities.
