What's Happening?
Shura Island is set to open in November 2025 as a central hub for tourism in the Red Sea region. The island will feature three new resorts: The Red Sea EDITION, SLS The Red Sea, and InterContinental The Red Sea Resort.
Additionally, it will host the Kingdom's first championship island golf course, Shura Links. The island's design, inspired by the Coral Bloom vision, aims to blend seamlessly with its natural surroundings. Shura Island will offer a variety of experiences, including yachting, diving, and cultural activities, making it a vibrant destination for travelers seeking adventure and relaxation.
Why It's Important?
The development of Shura Island is a key component of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the nation's economy and promote tourism. By creating a world-class destination in the Red Sea, the project is expected to attract international tourists, boosting the local economy and creating job opportunities. The island's focus on sustainability and responsible tourism aligns with global trends towards eco-friendly travel. This initiative not only enhances Saudi Arabia's tourism offerings but also positions the country as a leader in luxury and regenerative tourism development.
