What's Happening?
The Lobito Atlantic Railway (LAR) has resumed operations, receiving its first copper shipment from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) after repairing flood-damaged sections of the corridor. The railway, which connects the port of Lobito to Huambo,
was closed for two months due to severe flooding. Emergency repairs have restored this critical export route for central African minerals. LAR maintained cargo flows during the disruption by transferring freight between trains and trucks on either side of the damaged track.
