Suranne Jones, born in Oldham, Greater Manchester, began acting at eight years old and pursued a career in performing arts through the Oldham Theatre Workshop. She gained fame as Karen McDonald in Coronation
Street and later starred in critically acclaimed roles such as Ruth Slater in Unforgiven and Anne Lister in Gentleman Jack. Jones runs a production company, TeamAkers, with her husband Laurence Akers, co-producing various projects including the drama Maryland and documentary series Suranne Jones: Witches.
