What's Happening?
Tuyen Quang Province in Vietnam is focusing on green and smart industrial development as a strategic objective for sustainable growth from 2025 to 2030. This initiative aligns with Vietnam's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, as pledged
at COP26. The province is implementing measures to reduce carbon emissions, save energy and water, and expand the use of renewable energy. An Hoa Paper Joint Stock Company serves as a model for this transition, utilizing solar power systems to meet 50% of its electricity needs and optimizing production processes to reduce electricity consumption by 25%. The province's industrial sector has seen significant growth, with industrial production value increasing by 11.5% annually from 2020 to 2025. Tuyen Quang is also investing in clean energy, operating 51 hydropower plants and one biomass power plant, contributing significantly to the local economy.
Why It's Important?
The development of green and smart industries in Tuyen Quang Province is crucial for reducing environmental impact and enhancing economic competitiveness. By adopting renewable energy and optimizing production processes, the province aims to lower operating costs and improve productivity, which can attract more investment and create jobs. This approach not only supports Vietnam's national climate goals but also positions Tuyen Quang as a leader in sustainable industrial practices. The focus on clean energy and digital transformation can serve as a model for other regions, promoting a shift towards more sustainable industrial development across the country.
What's Next?
Looking ahead, Tuyen Quang plans to focus on green, circular industrial growth linked with digital transformation and high technology. The province aims to develop industrial clusters and renewable energy projects, attract high-tech investment, and promote supporting industries. A pilot smart industrial cluster managed through digital platforms is also planned, which will enhance infrastructure, energy, and logistics management. These efforts are expected to establish a smart industrial ecosystem, positioning Tuyen Quang as a dynamic hub for green industry in the northern mountainous region.
