Wiregrass Georgia Technical College recently conducted a Virtual Reality & Heavy Equipment Summer Camp from June 8-11 at its Ben Hill-Irwin Campus. The camp was designed for students aged 11-16 to explore high-demand careers using immersive technology
and hands-on experiences. Participants engaged in activities that combined cutting-edge virtual reality technology with real-world equipment operation. Throughout the week, students explored careers in healthcare, welding, HVAC, and other skilled trades using state-of-the-art virtual reality headsets. These immersive simulations allowed students to step into career environments, complete job-related tasks, and gain a better understanding of the skills required in each field. Additionally, students received hands-on experience with a Caterpillar motor grader simulator and learned the basics of heavy equipment operation. The camp aimed to build confidence, problem-solving skills, and an appreciation for the career opportunities available through technical education.
