Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Saudi Ministry of Investment and the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI) to explore the assembly of the Gokbey utility helicopter in Saudi Arabia.
This agreement, announced during the World Defense Show in Riyadh, aims to establish a local assembly line for various versions of the helicopter, including civil, naval, and air force models. The partnership is seen as a step towards strengthening ties between Turkey and Saudi Arabia, with potential future collaboration on the Kaan combat aircraft. The Gokbey helicopter, a medium twin-engine rotorcraft, is already in service with Turkish domestic customers, including the Turkish Jandarma.
