A significant fire broke out on a barge carrying large quantities of scrap metal in the Delaware Bay on Tuesday morning. The U.S. Coast Guard responded to the incident after receiving reports around 8 a.m., deploying a helicopter and two boats to the scene.
Local fire departments also assisted in the firefighting efforts. The barge, which was unmanned and being towed by a tugboat at the time, remained stationary as firefighting boats sprayed water onto the burning metal piles.
