Melvin H. Oros, a lifelong resident of Aurora, Illinois, passed away on July 7, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on December 5, 1935, he was the youngest of 11 children. Oros graduated from East Aurora High School in 1954 and served in the United States Navy.
After his military service, he embarked on a 39-year career with Northern Illinois Gas Company, retiring in 1995. Post-retirement, he worked at Kennicott Flowers and the Vaughan Athletic Center. Oros was a dedicated member of Holy Angels Church for over 60 years and enjoyed playing poker and gin rummy at the Phoenix Club. He was an avid sports fan, particularly of the Chicago Cubs and Bears, and cherished attending significant sporting events like The Masters and the Bears' Super Bowl XX victory. Oros is survived by his wife of 66 years, Linda, four sons, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. A visitation is scheduled for July 10, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on July 11 at Holy Angels Church.
