What's Happening?
A charity event in London, organized by K-Pals UK, supported Dr. Bhagwan Koirala's campaign to build children's hospitals across Nepal. The event aimed to provide financial and technical support to the Kathmandu Institute of Child Health (KIOCH). It featured
cultural performances, a raffle draw, and an auction, with participation from the Nepali community and organizations in the UK. Dr. Koirala emphasized the need for quality, affordable healthcare for children in Nepal, noting that a hospital is already operational in Damak, with a central hospital under construction in Kathmandu.
Why It's Important?
The campaign addresses critical healthcare needs in Nepal, where maternal and infant mortality rates remain high compared to developed nations. By building hospitals in all seven provinces, the initiative aims to improve healthcare access and outcomes for children. The event highlights the role of the Nepali diaspora in supporting development efforts in their homeland. It also underscores the importance of international collaboration in addressing healthcare challenges, potentially serving as a model for similar initiatives in other developing countries.
