Maaden, the Saudi Arabian Mining Company, has awarded a significant Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) contract to Bechtel for the development of the Ar Rjum gold mine. The contract,
valued at 391.1 million Saudi riyals ($104.3 million), is part of Maaden's strategy to double its gold production by 2030. The Ar Rjum project, located in the Makkah Region, is expected to produce 3.6 million ounces of gold over a 12-year period. Bechtel will oversee the construction of an open-pit mine and processing facilities capable of handling eight million tonnes of ore annually. The contract duration is set for 39 months.
