What's Happening?
The Dutch Ministry of Defence (MoD) has placed an order for additional Dutch Expeditionary Patrol Vehicles (DXPVs), which are unarmoured versions of the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) known as 'Kaaiman'. This order, valued between USD 25-30 million,
includes two DXPV training kits to enhance the readiness of the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps. The initial order for 150 DXPVs was made in June 2025, with deliveries expected by 2028. The DXPVs are intended to improve the mobility, survivability, and effectiveness of the marines in both joint and allied operations. However, the exact number of additional vehicles ordered and their delivery timeline remain undisclosed.
Why It's Important?
This development underscores the ongoing efforts by the Dutch MoD to bolster its military capabilities, particularly in enhancing the operational readiness of its marine corps. The investment in DXPVs reflects a strategic focus on mobility and survivability, crucial for modern military operations. This move could also signify a broader trend among European nations to upgrade their defense systems in response to evolving security challenges. For Oshkosh Defense, the manufacturer, this order represents a significant business opportunity, potentially strengthening its position in the European defense market.
