Governor Kathy Hochul announced Pensievision as the winner of Round Eight of the Luminate NY optics, photonics, and imaging startup accelerator competition. Pensievision, based in San Diego, California, received the 'Company of the Year' award and will
receive $1 million in investment from New York State. The competition, held in Rochester, aims to support emerging companies with technologies enabled by optics, photonics, and imaging. Pensievision plans to use the funding to engage with local supply chains, hire engineering talent from area universities, and partner with Rochester-based design and manufacturing firms. The Luminate NY accelerator, administered by NextCorps, is the world's largest business accelerator for companies in this sector. Since its inception, Luminate NY has invested $21 million in 85 startups, creating over 210 jobs in New York State.

As part of the award conditions, winners are expected to establish operations in the region for at least 18 months, further integrating into the local economy. The ongoing support from New York State and the Finger Lakes Forward initiative aims to maintain the region's status as a global hub for optics and photonics innovation.
