Rijk Zwaan's laboratory has become the first commercial laboratory in the Netherlands to receive the Laboratoria Erkend voor Export Zaaizaden (LEEZ) status from the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product
Safety Authority (NVWA). This certification allows Rijk Zwaan's seed health tests to be used in the phytosanitary certification of vegetable seeds, a crucial step for global export. The LEEZ status is part of a scheme developed by NVWA, the Netherlands Inspection Service for Horticulture, the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature, and the vegetable seed sector. The certification was announced during a ceremony at Rijk Zwaan’s Seed Connect Centre, where Esmeralda Wallast Groenewoud, Director of Enforcement at NVWA, highlighted the importance of collaboration between government and industry in safeguarding plant health and food supply.
