The Resilient Food Systems Index (RFSI), developed by Economist Impact, has been released, ranking 60 countries on their food system resilience. The index reveals a significant 42-point gap between the most and least resilient systems, with Portugal and the Democratic
Republic of the Congo at the extremes. The index evaluates countries across four pillars, with food affordability being the strongest. However, it highlights that affordability alone does not ensure resilience, as access to nutritious food remains a challenge. The index underscores the importance of reliable supply and trade, noting that the largest exporters have a higher resilience score, which stabilizes global markets.
