What's Happening?
The Moroccan-German Working Group on Food and Agriculture convened its first meeting in Rabat, marking the official launch of its activities. The meeting aimed to identify priority themes for short- and medium-term collaboration, facilitate exchanges on bilateral initiatives, and define concrete areas of cooperation. The creation of this Working Group is part of the dynamic relations between Morocco and Germany, shaped by a biannual Strategic Dialogue. It represents the implementation of the Joint Declaration signed during the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture in Berlin on January 18, 2025. The meeting also focused on engaging non-state stakeholders, including research institutions, the private sector, and civil society, while establishing governance, leadership, and monitoring modalities for the Group.
Why It's Important?
The establishment of the Moroccan-German Working Group on Food and Agriculture is significant as it embodies the two countries' commitment to strengthening cooperation in the agricultural and food sectors. This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and aims to foster agricultural innovation, promote the exchange of knowledge and technical expertise, enhance food security, and support sustainable and inclusive solutions. The Working Group has the potential to become a model of exemplary bilateral cooperation, capable of delivering tangible and lasting economic, social, and environmental impacts. It represents a strategic framework to address challenges in the agricultural sector and improve the resilience and productivity of agricultural partnerships.
