The Kansas City Royals have announced the acquisition of right-handed pitcher Mason Black from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for right-handed pitcher Logan Martin. Black, who was designated for assignment
by the Giants last week, joins the Royals' Major League Reserve List, which now stands at 37 players. Black, 25, had a stint with the Giants in 2025, making his only appearance of the season on July 4 against the Athletics in Sacramento, where he pitched 4.0 innings in relief and struck out five batters. He spent the remainder of the season with the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats, recording a 5.81 ERA over 30 appearances. Black debuted with San Francisco in 2024 and was selected by the Giants in the 3rd round of the 2021 Draft out of Lehigh University.
