What's Happening?
Longines has introduced the Ultra-Chron Classic, a luxury watch that revives the design and high-frequency precision of the original 1967 Ultra-Chron. The new model maintains the vintage aesthetic with a curved silver dial and sunburst finishing, while
incorporating modern features such as a trapezoidal date window and a sector-style layout. The watch is powered by the automatic high-frequency Caliber L836.6, which operates at 36,000 vibrations per hour and includes an anti-magnetic silicon balance spring. This movement is chronometer-certified by the Observatoire Chronométrique de Genève, ensuring its precision through a rigorous 15-day testing process.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of the Ultra-Chron Classic underscores Longines' commitment to preserving its heritage of high-beat precision timepieces. This move not only appeals to collectors and enthusiasts of vintage watches but also strengthens Longines' position in the luxury watch market. The chronometer certification adds a layer of credibility and appeal, potentially increasing the watch's desirability among consumers who value precision and craftsmanship. This release could influence trends in the luxury watch industry, encouraging other brands to revisit and modernize their historical designs.
