What's Happening?
Blackpool Council has announced a procurement process for a £240 million highways surfacing and civil engineering framework in the north west of England. This initiative is divided into two lots, with
the first lot valued at £144 million, focusing on highways surfacing, including resurfacing and reconstruction using various asphalt and concrete treatments. The second lot, worth £96 million, covers broader civil engineering works such as carriageway construction, earthworks, and traffic management. The framework is set to run from April 2026 to March 2030 and will be available to 17 local authorities and public bodies, including Lancashire County Council and Manchester City Council. Tenders must be submitted by January 26, 2026, with contract awards expected by the end of February 2026.
