The Government Digital Service (GDS) is intensifying efforts to hold UK government departments accountable for service costs and improvements. This initiative follows the conclusion of the Top 75 project,
which aimed to elevate critical government services to a 'great' standard. Despite partial success, with only 29 out of 50 services achieving top marks, the GDS is now focusing on collaboration with the Treasury to establish outcome metrics for major digital programs. These metrics will include financial and wider impact measures, with departments required to report progress every six months.
