A 19-year-old man, Angel Saravia-Estrada of Camden, was fatally struck by an off-duty Camden County police officer early Tuesday morning. The incident occurred around 12:50 a.m. in the vicinity of Admiral Wilson Boulevard and 16th Street. Officials reported
that Saravia-Estrada walked into the roadway when he was hit. The off-duty officer remained at the scene following the crash. An on-duty officer from the Delaware River Port Authority Department also stopped to provide aid to Saravia-Estrada. Despite efforts, the victim was transported to Cooper University Hospital and pronounced dead at 1:17 a.m. The identity of the off-duty officer involved has not been released.
