Ethiopia has been endorsed by the African Group of Negotiators to host the COP32 climate summit in 2027, following its successful Green Legacy Initiative. This initiative, launched by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, aims to combat deforestation and promote
reforestation across the country. Since its inception in 2019, Ethiopia has planted approximately 48 billion seedlings, significantly increasing its forest cover.
