What's Happening?
El Al Israel Airlines is set to expand its North American network by launching nonstop flights between Tel Aviv and San Francisco starting October 25, 2026. The service will operate three times a week using Boeing 787-9 aircraft, marking the airline's
return to the Bay Area for the first time since 2020. This new route becomes El Al's sixth U.S. destination, joining New York John F. Kennedy, Newark, Miami, Boston, and Los Angeles. The airline aims to cater to the growing demand from both the business sector and the large Israeli community in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of the Tel Aviv-San Francisco route by El Al Israel Airlines is significant as it enhances connectivity between Israel and the U.S., particularly benefiting the business community and Israeli diaspora in the Bay Area. This expansion reflects the airline's strategy to strengthen its presence in the U.S. market, potentially boosting tourism and business travel between the two regions. The move also underscores the importance of San Francisco as a key destination for international airlines, given its economic and cultural significance.
What's Next?
With the new route set to commence in October, El Al Israel Airlines will likely focus on marketing efforts to attract both business travelers and tourists. The airline may also explore further expansion opportunities in the U.S. market, potentially adding more destinations or increasing flight frequencies to existing ones. Stakeholders such as travel agencies and businesses in both Israel and the U.S. might anticipate increased collaboration and travel options, fostering stronger bilateral ties.
