The Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) has launched the 'Paraty Dialogues,' a new international forum designed to position Brazil at the center of global discussions on geopolitics, climate change, and artificial intelligence. The inaugural
pilot event, held in Paraty, Rio de Janeiro, brought together 32 experts from 14 countries, including diplomats, former ministers, academics, and representatives from international organizations and civil society. Over three days of closed-door discussions, participants focused on strengthening international cooperation across three main themes: geopolitical transition and international cooperation; climate action and sustainable development; and global governance and institutional renewal. This initiative aims to fill a gap in major international forums traditionally concentrated in Europe and the U.S., offering a perspective more connected to the Global South and Latin America. The organizers noted Brazil's recent prominence on the international stage, having hosted the G20 Summit in 2024, the BRICS meeting in 2025, and COP30 in Belém in 2025.

Following the pilot event, CEBRI plans to publish a report later this year consolidating the main discussions from the first edition of the Paraty Dialogues. In future editions, the forum aims to produce a 'Paraty Charter,' which will compile recommendations for governments and international organizations. The network of influential participants is expected to act as a multiplier for the ideas discussed, bringing these conversations back to their respective decision-making spaces. The organizers intend to maintain the annual format of the Paraty Dialogues and gradually open parts of the program to the public. This will involve streaming events online and inviting international guests to present themes to a broader audience, with the goal of establishing Paraty as a new international hub for reflection on the global order and bringing topics like geopolitics, climate, and technology closer to society.

The Paraty Dialogues represent a strategic effort to rebalance the global intellectual and diplomatic landscape. By intentionally creating a forum outside traditional Western centers, Brazil is challenging the long-standing dominance of European and U.S.-centric perspectives in international relations.
