The Metropolitan Commission (MetCom), St. Mary’s County’s water and sewer utility, has launched 'Diligent One Community,' a new online platform designed to provide easier access to public meeting agendas, minutes, policies, and records. This move, implemented
at its August 27 Commission Meeting, signifies MetCom's transition to a paperless system. The new platform offers five key improvements: a public transparency portal for viewing meeting materials, constituent engagement tools allowing residents to subscribe to updates and submit comments online, ADA-compliant accessibility across devices, a searchable centralized repository of past meetings, and streamlined cloud-based archiving to reduce paper use and data storage needs. MetCom, an independent quasi-governmental nonprofit established by the Maryland legislature in 1957, is funded entirely by its ratepayers, serving approximately 16,000 homes and 850 commercial establishments.
